SpaceX reported third-quarter revenue of $14.6 billion, a figure that not only shattered expectations but signaled a dramatic shift in the company's financial trajectory. This amount represents a 161 percent year-over-year surge, comfortably exceeding the consensus estimate of approximately $12.7 billion. The financial performance was underpinned by a net profit of $4.4 billion, marking a stark turnaround from the losses recorded in the same period last year. Adjusted EBITDA reached $8.8 billion, further cementing the quarter as a high-water mark for the firm.

The path to this performance has been defined by rapid diversification. The Super Intelligence division, focused on AI, emerged as the largest revenue generator with roughly $7.6 billion, growing nearly 830 percent annually. Meanwhile, the Connectivity segment contributed $5.2 billion, driven by subscriber growth that pushed the Starlink consumer base to 13.6 million users. These segments have allowed the company to move beyond traditional launch services, creating multiple high-growth engines that have attracted renewed investor attention.

The catalyst for the recent market movement was the earnings call held on October 20, 2026. CEO Elon Musk and CFO Bret Johnsen outlined first-quarter 2027 revenue guidance of $33 billion to $37 billion, significantly surpassing the $22 billion analysts had previously modeled. They also detailed fourth-quarter capital expenditure plans ranging from $35 billion to $40 billion, primarily directed toward AI compute infrastructure in locations such as Memphis and Southaven. Management expressed confidence in reaching 2.5 to 3 gigawatts of compute capacity by the end of the current year, with pathways to 13 gigawatts or more by late 2027.

Musk noted relentless demand from major tech customers, stating that compute pricing supports payback periods of less than a year, and potentially as short as six months. The call also highlighted operational milestones, including Starship’s recent orbital success, the deployment of V3 satellites, and the rapid adoption of the Grok Bot. Additionally, management discussed spectrum expansion and the formation of special committees to explore a potential combination with Tesla, adding another layer of speculation to the company's future.

In response to these disclosures, Wall Street analysts moved quickly to adjust their outlooks. JPMorgan more than doubled its price target to $500 from $240, maintaining an Overweight rating. Cantor Fitzgerald raised its target to $345, while Barclays and Morgan Stanley both set targets at $300. Other firms, including Citi, UBS, TD Cowen, Wells Fargo, and Clear Street, also increased their projections, citing the strong quarterly results and accelerating AI expansion as key drivers.

The stock, which closed at $147.79 on October 20, jumped roughly 8 percent in early premarket trading on October 21. This reaction reflects a broader shift in investor confidence regarding SpaceX’s ability to scale its new business lines. While the heavy spending on infrastructure remains a point of focus for some, the consensus has clearly tilted toward the company’s expanding earnings power across launch, connectivity, and artificial intelligence.

As the market digests these new targets, the focus will remain on SpaceX’s ability to execute its massive capital expenditure plans. The coming months will be critical in determining whether the projected compute capacity and revenue growth materialize as outlined by management. For now, the Street has voted with its models, positioning SpaceX as a central player in the emerging AI infrastructure market.
