Jose Mourinho and Real Madrid secured a 2-1 victory over Barcelona at Camp Nou on Sunday, a result that narrows the gap at the top of the LaLiga table to three points. The win halts Barcelona's recent surge and keeps the title race alive with 28 matches remaining in the season. Real Madrid’s performance was defined by tactical adjustments that neutralized Barcelona’s primary threats in the final third.

Marc Cucurella and Yan Diomande effectively isolated Lamine Yamal, while Bernardo Silva and Aurelien Tchouameni controlled the midfield against Pedri and Rodri. Vinicius Junior was suspended, allowing Diomande to operate on his preferred left flank. Andriy Lunin started in goal for Thibaut Courtois and remained unshaken. Jude Bellingham won the decisive goal after pressing Rodri and creating multiple scoring chances throughout the match. Eduardo Camavinga and Denzel Dumfries provided impact as late substitutes.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick admitted his side could have scored more, noting that Gerard Martin mishit a clearance across his own goal. Flick declined to make defensive substitutions until late in the game, relying on Gabriel Jesus and Karim Adeyemi for attacking momentum. Xavi Espart was substituted for Alejandro Balde after 30 minutes, leaving the fullback depth thin. The team conceded through defensive errors rather than sustained pressure from Madrid.

In the Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur defeated Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge. It was Tottenham’s second win in 35 attempts against Chelsea. Mathys Tel scored the second goal after a run from his own half. Cole Palmer received a red card with ten minutes remaining. Chelsea ceded 69% of possession to Tottenham, a statistic that reflects their midfield composition. Jordan Henderson started the match for the fourth consecutive game.

Manchester United’s struggles deepened with a 3-0 home loss to Bournemouth on Sunday. The defeat raises questions about manager Michael Carrick’s tenure at Old Trafford. Bruno Fernandes was left on the bench, a decision Carrick cited as purely footballing. The squad failed to respond to the tactical changes, marking the third consecutive defeat for the Red Devils. Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada remain in their respective roles despite the on-field results.

Atletico Madrid currently sits two points behind Barcelona. They are scheduled to host Barcelona on November 8, a match that could further shift the league standings. Real Madrid will play three away matches following the international break. Tottenham’s next fixture follows their consecutive wins, while Manchester United continues its search for a victory under Carrick.
