Maryland SSI recipients get November check on Oct. 30
The deposit arrives early because Nov. 1 falls on a Sunday, leaving a gap until the next payment on Dec. 1.

Supplemental Security Income recipients in Maryland will receive their November payment on Friday, Oct. 30. The Social Security Administration moved the date because Nov. 1 falls on a Sunday. This schedule affects Baltimore City, which has the highest number of SSI recipients in the state. Residents should expect a longer wait between this deposit and the next one, which lands on Dec. 1.
The Oct. 30 deposit is the standard monthly benefit. It is not an extra payment. The agency follows a rule that sends funds on the previous business day when a payment date falls on a weekend or federal holiday. For most Marylanders, the next SSI check will not arrive until Dec. 1. A second payment will land on Dec. 31, covering January. That final deposit must last through the end of the month.
SSI is a needs-based federal program for people with limited income and assets. It serves individuals who are 65 or older, blind, or disabled, including children. In Baltimore, many household bills come due on the first of the month. A check arriving on Oct. 30 can look like an early windfall, but it is intended for November expenses. The simplest way to manage cash flow is to treat the October 30 money as the November budget.
Maryland had 114,248 SSI recipients in December 2024, according to the latest data from the Social Security Administration. About 27% of them lived in Baltimore City. Those recipients collected approximately $88.2 million in SSI benefits that month statewide. Roughly 31,000 Marylanders receive both SSI and Social Security. They will see two deposits in November: the SSI payment on Oct. 30 and the Social Security payment on Nov. 3.
The Social Security Administration confirmed a 3.6% cost-of-living adjustment for 2027. The increase applies to both SSI and Social Security benefits. The maximum federal SSI payment for an individual will rise from $994 in 2026 to $1,029 in 2027. For a couple, the maximum payment will increase from $1,491 to $1,544. Actual payments may be lower if a recipient has other countable income. Personalized notices for this increase should appear in online accounts starting in late November.
Maryland does not add a state supplement for most SSI recipients. The state pays an optional supplement only to aged, blind, or disabled people living in specific care homes or assisted living facilities. This payment is funded entirely by state money and is not available to children or people living independently. Applications for this specific benefit go through local departments of social services, not the federal agency.
If a payment does not arrive on Oct. 30, recipients should wait three days for mail delivery before contacting the agency. The national phone line is 1-800-772-1213. The Social Security Administration is headquartered in Woodlawn, Baltimore County.
