President Donald Trump left the White House on Monday to stand before the Lincoln Memorial, marking the final day of his midterm campaign tour. He arrived at the Reflecting Pool to announce the completion of repairs that the Interior Department spent months executing.

Trump described the restored water feature as "better and more beautiful than it’s ever been before." He credited his Interior staff for their work, repeating his earlier claims that vandalism had previously damaged the structure.

This visit served as the President's closing address before voters head to the polls. After holding nearly 30 rallies, he urged the public to choose which party would control Congress for the next two years. Trump characterized the upcoming vote as the most important of their lifetimes.

He attacked the opposing party's nominees, calling them the "most extreme and dangerous slate of candidates in American history." Despite this focus, he did not directly address the high cost of living, a topic pollsters say is the top concern for voters this cycle.

Instead, the President highlighted what he described as a strong and resilient economy. He acknowledged the historical trend of the party in power losing seats in midterms but expressed hope that Republicans would defy that pattern.

The final polling data points to a strong showing for Democrats in the 2026 elections. The President and his allies hold a razor thin majority in Congress, a margin that makes retaining control a central goal for the remainder of the campaign.
