Atlanta rapper Lil Baby will release his new studio album, Fresh, on Friday. The launch comes shortly after he spent Election Day on the ground, directly encouraging young people to cast their ballots. His public push for voter engagement marks a shift in how the star engages with the political process.
Lil Baby discussed this change in perspective during a recent visit to Hot 107.9 in Atlanta. He spoke with Posted On The Corner's Incognito about his evolving view on politics. The conversation revealed a personal admission about his past skepticism regarding the impact of individual votes.
"Every vote counts and I was one of the people that actually believed that voting don’t do nothing for us," Lil Baby said. "But the more I grow and the more I understand politics and the community it actually does matter." He noted that his only hope is that advising people to vote makes a tangible difference.
This advocacy aligns with his earlier work addressing social issues. In 2020, he released The Bigger Picture during a period of nationwide protests. That record focused on police brutality and racial injustice, demonstrating his willingness to use his platform for causes affecting his community.
The new album is led by the track "Dead Fresh," which features production from Pharrell Williams. Lil Baby aims to use the release to continue influencing the next generation. He wants fans to make informed decisions and recognize the power they hold at the polls.
The timing of the album release places it squarely in the post-election period. Lil Baby has positioned himself as a voice for young voters who previously felt apathy. He seeks to bridge the gap between musical entertainment and civic duty through this new project.
