A 911 call placed by the father who stopped a gunman at an Oregon elementary school was released Tuesday, offering a direct audio record of the events leading up to the fatal confrontation. The recording, which is approximately 80 seconds long, was made on October 15 and captures the initial moments of the attack at Silver Rail Elementary in Bend.

Kaylub Giamanco, 36, was driving past the school when he witnessed the shooter begin the rampage. He stated that he saw the gunman shoot at a vehicle and then throw a weapon over the school fence. Giamanco retrieved his own handgun and called emergency services before entering the building. He told the dispatcher, "Someone's at the school, at my daughters' school with a gun. I have a gun, and I will shoot them right now if I have to."

The dispatcher asked Giamanco to identify the location and the shooter. Giamanco responded, "Silver Rail Elementary! Silver Rail Elementary!" When asked if he knew who the attacker was, he replied, "This is my daughters' school. I'm about to go kill this kid." The dispatcher pressed for the shooter's identity, and Giamanco said, "No, I don't f, ing know, I was just driving."

Giamanco’s two daughters were inside the school during the attack, and both survived. The gunman killed three children, aged 5, 8, and 11, as well as a 25-year-old teacher. Giamanco entered the school with his handgun and shot the shooter, ending the rampage.

During the call, Giamanco became increasingly agitated as he described the violence occurring inside. He shouted, "God d, it, they're f, ing shooting people. Come on!" The dispatcher asked him to provide a description of the shooter and stated that help was on the way. The recording ends shortly after the dispatcher asks, "Sir, I need you to tell me what's going on."

The call was placed from Giamanco's vehicle before he entered the school. He provided the dispatcher with his phone number and confirmed the shooter was inside the building. The audio shows the rapid exchange of information between the father and the dispatcher as they attempted to assess the situation before Giamanco moved to engage the shooter.
