ITV is swapping its nightly soap operas for live football coverage on Tuesday evening. The channel will air the Carabao Cup match between Liverpool and Chelsea starting at 7:30pm, with the game kicking off at 8pm.
This schedule change removes both Emmerdale and Coronation Street from the air for the night. Viewers who watch the broadcast live will not see the new episodes scheduled for that time slot.
Both shows will return to their normal broadcast times on Thursday, October 29. Emmerdale will air at 8pm, followed by Coronation Street at 8:30pm. The network will also make the episodes available on YouTube and ITVX starting at 7am on the same day.
The network previously aired make-up episodes for both soaps on Sunday, October 25. Those broadcasts were added to the schedule to offset the disruption caused by this week's sports coverage.
On the cobbles, Lucy Parkinson reports Sally Metcalfe to social worker Ruth. In the Dales, Kim Tate worries about the consequences of Thea Ramsden’s stabbing, while Graham Foster reacts to a revelation from Baby Tate’s kidnapper.
