The smartphone industry has largely abandoned the small form factor in favor of expansive glass slabs, but a new entrant believes there is still a market for a pocket-sized device. On November 4, Enough Phone opened preorders for its first handset, aiming to capture consumers who prefer a lighter, smaller phone.

The device features a 5.3-inch display, which the company identifies as the smallest screen size that still meets performance standards. This panel is considerably smaller than current mainstream models, giving the phone a footprint similar to Apple's iPhone 13 Mini. The body is constructed from polycarbonate and is slightly thicker than the Apple device due to the internal layout.

Hardware specifications focus on functionality rather than peak performance. The phone runs on a mid-range MediaTek processor and includes a single rear-facing camera. A fingerprint sensor is integrated into the power button. The thickness of the device allows for a user-replaceable battery, a design choice that mirrors the approach taken by the Fairphone. Owners can remove the back cover by unscrewing a few components to access the battery.

Software options offer a split between standard and minimalist experiences. The default operating system is Google-certified Android 17, which the company expects to be the most popular choice. An alternative option is OdysseyOS, a de-Googled version of Android that functions like a basic phone. This streamlined build lacks a web browser, appealing to users who want to minimize digital distractions.

Several technical details remain unresolved ahead of the final launch. The designers have not finalized waterproofing or durability ratings. Battery capacity is also subject to change, though the company indicates it hopes for an increase rather than a decrease. The phone will be sold unlocked with 5G support and aims for broad global carrier compatibility.

However, some restrictive networks, such as Verizon, may not support the device. The preorder period serves as a direct test of consumer interest in compact hardware. While surveys have long shown a preference for smaller phones, the industry has moved in the opposite direction. This launch will determine if that stated preference translates into actual purchases.
