The 2027 model year introduces major changes to the full-size light-duty truck segment, with two platforms receiving complete redesigns and three others adding specific performance or off-road packages. Edmunds, an automotive information website, compiled data on these five vehicles to outline the new options available to buyers.

Chevrolet has fully redesigned the Silverado 1500 for 2027. The new model retains a similar exterior shape to the current version but features a new powertrain lineup. The engine options include a 305-horsepower diesel six-cylinder, a 350-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder, and two V-8 engines. The 5.7-liter V-8 produces 402 horsepower, while the 6.6-liter V-8 produces 481 horsepower. The truck can tow up to 13,700 pounds and carry a payload of up to 2,340 pounds. The base price is $41,395.

The redesigned GMC Sierra 1500 shares the Silverado's cab styles and engines but is positioned as a premium option. It features slightly lower maximum towing and payload capacities than its Chevrolet sibling. The interior includes an available three-screen dashboard with a 12.2-inch driver display, a 16.3-inch center touchscreen, and an 11.5-inch passenger touchscreen. A new Multi-Flex center console can be configured as a flat work surface. The starting price is $51,295.

Ford updated the F-150 with a new standard turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine. Ford states this engine delivers peak torque sooner than the previous 2.7-liter V-6, improving acceleration from a stop. The optional 5.0-liter V-8 is now more widely available across the lineup. Ford also introduced a new F-150 Carhartt trim based on the XLT level, featuring rugged interior materials. Improved BlueCruise technology now allows hands-free driving while towing. The estimated starting price is $40,500.

Ram introduced two distinct versions of the 1500 for 2027. The Rumble Bee focuses on on-road performance with a wide-body design. It is available with a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 that produces 777 horsepower. The top-tier SRT Rumble Bee has a quoted top speed of 170 mph. The SRT TRX returns as an off-road model using the same 777-horsepower V-8, combined with a reworked suspension. The starting price is $45,370.

Toyota refined the styling of the Tundra and added a new Honeycomb color option for the TRD Pro model. A new Trailhunter variant is designed for overlanding, a style of off-roading that involves extended trips. This model includes all-terrain tires, underbody skid plates, and a low-speed cruise control system for trail driving. The interior features a new infotainment system with a standard 14-inch touchscreen. The estimated starting price is $44,000.
